Well it has been a terrific July thus far. I have been to two events so far this month Atlanticade and Passendaele Unit's Lakes and Rivers Ride. Here is a brief update on these events.

Atlanticade:

The CAV was very involved with Atlanticade this year helping the Charlotte County Riders lead the various tours though out the event. The CAV also was involved in all the Veterans events on Friday and hosted a BBQ on Saturday. It was a great time for all participants! Check out the Atlanticade photos on our site.

Lake and Rivers Poker Run:

Last Saturday seen the Village of Gagetown over run with bikers looking to ride, have fun, and help others. The turn out was strong and proceeds for the event went to the Veterans Health Unit in Fredericton and the Legion in GageTown. The day started out with fantastic weather, we had a mid ride shower, and ended the ride with the sun back out and everyone dry and happy. The event ended with a BBQ and dance later in the evening. For anyone who has not had the opportunity to participate in the Lakes and Rivers Ride in the past you need to mark this in our calendar for next year! Moncton Bike Show

Wharf Rat Rally

I went to Digby Nova Scotia last week-end to Warf Rat. It was an excellent week-end full of bikes, food and great company. Fortress Europe did an excellent job of making all the CAV members that attended feel at home. It was a pleasure seeing old friends again and meeting new ones. There were unit members from 1st, 2nd and 3rd CAV at the rally!

Highlight of the week-end was a great pig roast hosted by Fortress Europe with lots of food and music. A great time was had by everyone.

What about the rally? Well even with the Hurricane there were thousands of bikes in attendance. I really enjoyed the demo rides put on by Harley and Honda. I know a lot of the guys were talking about the great food and vendors; especially the scallop rolls being sold on the warf. :)

Thunder in the Highlands

Well I see the next big event on our calendar is Thunder in the Highlands. I know from talking to local unit members that there are a number of CAV members headed to this event. Looks like a great time with tours of Cape Brenton, street parties, dances, and many other activities.

Lakes and Rivers Run - Passchendaele

Yesterday was the annual Lakes and Rivers Poker Run and BBQ. The event was a great success and the weather co-operated to provide an outstanding experience for all those who participated. This event was in support of the Legion and the Wounded Warriors Fund. Thanks to all the riders and volunteers who made it all possible.

The event saw CAV members from five provinces! In addition to this a number of other organizations joined us in support of a great cause. Check out all the photos of the riders and crests in our photo album.

ATLANTICADE

Well Atlanticade was a blast! For all of those who missed it this year please consider adding this to your must do list for next season. The event was well organized and everyone I talked to seemed to be having a great time. I am still collecting the PICs; however look for some to be posted on the 2CAV photo gallery soon.

Certainly a highlight of the event was the street party Saturday night. It was great to see all those bikes and the street full of riders having a good time.

On Sunday morning the CAV National President (Trapper) and a number of CAV members led the “Parade of Iron Horses” from St. Andrews to St. Stephen. I for one enjoyed the parade through St. Andrews and it was something to see so many local residents turn out to offer their support for the event.

Thanks to those CAV members who participated in the Canada day ride to honor our veterans.

ATLANTICADE

Well Atlanticade starts tomorrow. Riders from across the maritimes and beyond will be converging on scenic St. Andrews, New Brunswick for one of the largest motorcycle festivals of the summer.

Looks to be a good time and I know that a lot of you are attending. I look forward to seeing you there.

Father's Day Show and Shine

Passchendaele held a Father's Day Show and Shine at the Oromocto mall on June 19th. There was a good turn out of bikes and members for this event and everyone had a great time.

Ride For Dad 2010

The annual Ride for Dads event took place over the week-end. Though the weather was poor large groups of riders from across New Brunswick converged on Sussex to show their support for the fight against prostate cancer. Thanks to all those who braved the elements to make last week-end a success!

Ride for Dad - New-Brunswick

Final figures are not all in, however registered for our 2nd annual N.B. Ride For Dad, Tri city run, was between 650 to 700 riders coming in to Sussex. Raised over $35000.00 and that's not our final count. Successful event by all account and well done to all our 2 CAV members.

Ride for Dad - PEI

The troops from PEI had a major success with their first annual Ride for Dad run. They had 109 bikers show up and managed to raise $7000 in pledges. Awesome work guys!!

Honda Furey tickets

The one we have for the ticket Draw is a Mat Silver with black powder coat frame and wheels and red pinstriping on the wheels.

Tickets will be $10.00 each with 4,000 printed. All funds for the Monument of Honour in Conception Bay South.

Free shipping anywhere along the TCH between here and Toronto has been arranged if the winner is outside the Avalon area.

Tickets will be available soon Draw date is scheduled to be Sept 1,2009 or earlier in the event of an early sell out.

Dunkirk Charity Ride for Dad BBQ

Really nice job and what a great event Bucky and company put together at Walmart Saturday. Support from Dunkirk members; Shrek, Ron, Les, Gene, Herb and Dave, Bucky brought in more energy and strenght into our CAV family with his wife Bonnie, daughter Sara, his sister Melody and together they all done a superb job.
One only has to look at the amount of money raised for our Ride for Dad ($1000.00) and Wounded Warrior Funds($300.00). Also want to thank Melody and Roly (yes another Roly) for the nice Mother's gift they donated. Thank you all for your great effort and contribution.

I also want to thank our brothers and sisters, members of Point59 and Passchendale that come in, had some good burgers and hot dogs while drying off. Apparently Point59 got caught in a rain storm while coming to Moncton. We got lucky and had sun all day.

On a sad note, Ron and I were talking to a fellow brother in arms and still wounded father that lost a son in Afghanistan a few years ago. Still could feel the pain, with all of us having watery eyes during our conversation. Brownsfield (last name if I recall correctly) along with his wife thanked us for what we were about and we said our goodbyes.

All in all, a super good day, great job for our Dunkirk unit and I want to thank all that participated. I also understand that some members couldn't commit this time as they were away and some working, and that you will add Strenght and Energy and Honor at another time.

Shane (Gomer) first ride

Shane from Point59 took out his first scoot tonight with Butch and Killer.
We put on a whooping 50km. It was short and sweet but very plesant.

He drives a 1978 Honda CB750 which is named Betty. She purred and we had a fun time.
It's nice to see new drivers.

Perhaps next summer we'll see Minoune (oops.... Sweets) drive hers.

With Bucky/Shrek/Rachel great initiative, Dunkirk will be having a BBQ at the Trinity Walmart this Sat from 9:30 to approx 1500hrs. Walmart will match up to $500.00 for the Ride For Dad contributions. They provide all. Wrinzler is giving us some meat and Sobey's other goodies. All we have to do is show up with crest on, add support to our members doing this, do a one to 11/2 hour shift, if most participate. We will be flipping burgers, wieners, some bikes will be displayed and comradship participation will be enjoyed. We even have some coming from Passchendaele and Point59. We will more likely have some sort of venue to collect loose change and we will give that to our Wounded Warrior Fund as per wishes of the organizers.

Reminder Saturday Legion morning breakfast starts at 0845 hrs then we will ride to Walmart. Some crests have come in, and have 3/4 winged wheel to hand out. See you there.

On this day, there's also the bessing of the bikes at Toys for Big Boys for those who might be in the Moncton area.

Sussex breakfast May 3, 2009

What a nice turn out today! 32 members showed up for the gathering at Smitty's Restaurant. It was nice to see new faces!

Most of us went for a ride after breakfast and it was a pleasant day.

2CAV Sussex Breakfast

Just a reminder about the monthly 2CAV gathering at Smitty's in Sussex for 10 am on Sunday May 3, 2009. It was nice to see a whooping 23 people last month.
I'm pretty sure there will be new faces this month since other fellow riders are coming to see what we're all about!

Also, side note, these gatherings are non-mandatory and they are for members and friends. Everyone is welcomed :)

April 26 - Point59 Breakfast

It was nice to see most of Point59 meet at the 3 Miles for the biker breakfast.
We might even have a new member as well! Hope to see Mary hop along with us.

The Ride for Dad route has been traced and established.
We just need the bikers now.

Thanks to all who showed up.
Looking forward to see you all at the Monthly Point59 meeting on May 13th at 7PM.
The meeting will be held at United Rentals.

April Breakfast

The monthly breakfast at Smitty's in Sussex went well.
We crested 4 new members in Saint John and Moncton crested 1 new member.
Way to go!

We had a nice turnout of 22 people.
Let's see what May will bring.

Allison, Doc, Wrench and Junior decided to come onboard.

Now that the family is growing - all we need is warm weather so we can go ride!

Moncton Bike Show

The gathering at the bike show turned out awesome.
Lots of cavs members from PEI, Moncton, Gagetown and Saint John attended the event.
It was nice to see the familiar faces along with the new recruited members.

Some of the cav members made some nice purchases. Butch got a Vulcan Nomad, I got a Harley Sportster Iron 883. Tacey and Faith from Gagetown got a scooter.
Frank the tank got to see his custom bike for the first time today. He seemed pleased!

Point 59 Executive Members

Valentine weekend was a nice one since it was the Moncton bike show.
Butch, Point59 unit president purchased a nice Vulcan Nomad bike while I purchased 'Jason' on Friday the 13th! Jason is a nice 2009 Harley Sportster Iron 883.
We can't wait to twist the throttle this season.

Official news was made over the weekend for the new executive members.
Butch appointed Terry Hovey as Point 59 road captain.
I, Coq, got elected as Point 59 Vice-President.

South Africa Unit

The PEI South Africa unit is also growing very well. They have reached 12 members!
It's nice to see the units grow :)

Moncton Bike Show

There will be a CAV gathering at the Moncton bike show over the weekend of the 13,14 and 15th of February.

Breakfast at 10 am at the Moncton legion. Please wear your colors.
We will then head to the Moncton Coliseum for the bike show.
Supper ( not yet determined where.. )
Dance at the Moncton Legion 8 pm.
